I tried configuring the color on the TV, but nil is happening. Converter box vs. VCR next to digital tuner?
Why is everyone (exaggeration) raving about these stupid converter boxes that can solitary tune digital signal. Coupon-eligible converter boxes next to HD selection?
I just get my 2 coupons for converter boxes and I’m pleased to see that most eligible boxes would be reduced to about $20 beside coupon… however I have be searching through them for one that offer the option of disappearing the resolution format as-is, and outputting via component video. Every one I’ve seen have only composite out, and conceivably RF or coax, for a max of 480i. One had s-video but still couldn’t do progressive scan. I class of suspect there’s a rule forbidding it now, which make no sense. Doesn’t the government read between the lines that those of us who have HD-ready TV’s are a moment ago as SOL next February as everyone else? The coupon program is vitally to provide digital tuners to people whose TV sets don’t hold digital tuners. What difference does it make if your TV is HD-ready, it still doesn’t own a digital tuner. Does anyone know of a coupon-eligible converter box that also allows HD output? Or one that at least will output surrounded by progressive scan?

Wire Guys , Cat Cable
History of Cable in Canada
Now, many Canadians receive their television services and internet services from the best seller of gauge wire and cat cable: the high speed cable, Fiber cable and Lan cable: the networking cables in Canada like Wire Guys Company and many more.
They are receiving cable in Canada through some sort of multichannel television platform like satellite television or cable television, as opposed to an antenna-based system providing only conventional stations. Whereas, the technical details of these platforms differ, the governing Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) regulations are same for all providers.
There are two main multichannel distribution platforms in Wire guy kind of companies in Canada. The first and the largest, is cable television, while the other being satellite television. Low-power and MMDS broadcast subscription channels are available in some markets of Canada.
Cable television
In 1952, Cable television in Canada began with community antenna connections in London and Vancouver. Previously, the systems brought American stations to viewers in Canada who had no stations to watch; broadcast television, though begun late in Cabling in Toronto and Montreal in 1952, did not reach a majority of cities until 1954.
To carry available Canadian stations and also import American stations, cable television was widely established which constituted the biggest majority of signals on systems. A growing number of Canadian stations pushed American channels off the systems during the 1970s, forcing various to expand beyond the original 12 channel system configurations. The advent of fibre-optic technology enabled companies at the same time, to extend their systems to nearby villages and towns that by themselves were not viable cable television markets.
In 1983, television channels available only on cable began to be established and systems continued to upgrade and expand their channel capacity, by deploying fibre optics to carry signals before converting to cat cable or coaxial cable for the final run to the customer premises.
The use of Fibre cable as far back as the 1970s does not imply that Cable companies like Wire guy, were using digital methods to transmit signals as is sometimes assumed by the modern viewer. Techniques were developed as well as deployed as far back as the 1970s to transmit analog video using frequency division multiplexing via fibre-optic cabling. Digital signaling is more modern practice which only began in the early 2000s. Two-way capabilities were introduced and larger systems were able to use “addressable” descramblers to offer pay-TV and different tiers of channels.
So, this is all about history of cable Canada.
Digital Television: Why the UK is Sleep Walking to the Digital Switchover
Not many people seem to know this. . . By the end of 2012 the UK will have been the only country in the world to have totally made the switchover to all digital television. The digital switchover starts in 2008 – less than 2 short years away.
A recent Which Report (Which is the major consumer champion in the UK) shows that in many areas the awareness of the digital switchover is less than 2 %. Even in the Borders Television region – the first to make the change – only about a third of the people surveyed knew what was going to happen.
It really does seem that the UK is sleepwalking in to the Digital Switchover.
Not surprisingly, the whole switchover programme is being watched with keen interest by other nations around the World. The benefits of digital television for broadcasters, manufacturers and programme makers are pretty clear. The new media is already changing programme making – Planet Earth, currently showing on the BBC – is a prime example of what can be achieved. And of course the manufacturers are positively drooling at the thought of all the new televisions, video recorders and set-top boxes they expect to sell.
Consumers are set to benefit too – better pictures and sound, high definition television, interactivity, movies on demand. . . The list goes on.
Governments have a keen commercial interest too. They own the air waves. And digital television takes up much less band width than conventional analogue signals. So the move to digital frees up precious broadcasting capacity that Governments are keen to sell to the highest bidders. The sale of the mobile telephone spectrum for 3G providers raised over £20 billion. Who would bet that the sale of the television spectrum won’t raise significantly more?
The move to digital television benefits us all. So why do so few people know what is happening?
Simply being able to receive digital television is only part of the issue. Just about every television bought more than 12 months ago, and a good percentage of those being sold now, are effectively obsolete. All of them will need a separate satellite receiver or set top decoder box to receive digital signals. Every video recorder will also need an additional decoder.
The UK Government puts the average cost per household to upgrade to digital television at £132 ($210). I feel the real figure is likely to be 4 or times this level. Most homes in the UK have upwards of 4 televisions – each and every one will need significant investment to receive digital television signals.
In the UK 68% of homes already receive digital television in some form- satellite (which means BSkyB – the only UK satellite television provider), cable or terrestrial freeview. In almost all cases digital television is only watched on the main television in the house. The other sets are still restricted to the main analogue, terrestrial stations. From 2008 this has all got to change.
It’s time to wake up. We are at the threshold of the biggest change in the television experience since it was first invented.
Start planning your own digital switchover now.
Learn the Basics in Operating Satellite Television
One of the latest advancements in the global television broadcasting industry, the development of satellite television provides additional opportunities for television networks to create new, enjoyable and entertaining television programs. Even if the use of satellite television is becoming famous in present times, many broadcasting companies in the world are still unaware about the basic procedures in operating satellite television systems. For those who have interest in using this modern technology, it is important that they have a look at how this technology can enhance their daily lives. Important Equipment Needed to Operate Satellite Television Systems
Artificial satellites are very important to the operations of satellite television systems. First, geostationary satellites provide audio and video signals to satellite dishes that are positioned in the surface of the Earth. Afterwards, the satellite dishes send the signals to television companies that operate these systems.
Technically speaking, geostationary satellites possess several transponders that are essential to the use of satellite televisions. These transponders bring signals like Ka Band, Ku Band, or C Band to distant satellite dishes. With the use of feedhorns, satellite dishes forward the signals to Low Noise Block converters in broadcasting stations. The converters send the audio and video frequencies to Intra-Facility Links. These links are the ones responsible for transmitting frequencies to satellite television systems. Basic Features of Digital Satellite Television Sets
For those who like to purchase and use digital satellite television sets, it is necessary that they first know the basic features of these systems to avoid having regrets in the end. These systems are better than traditional satellite television sets for they have the capacity to access additional channels provided by television broadcasting companies in the areas. In addition, these television systems feature advance interfaces like High Definition Television. Furthermore, to produce clearer sound, digital satellite television systems use MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 formats. A View on Several Books About the Development of Satellite Television Systems
To improve people’s understandings on the development and operation of satellite television systems, some writers published books that discuss related issues on this topic. Three informative books that everyone should consider reading are “The World of Satellite,” “The Digital Satellite TV Handbook,” and “Satellite TV: Techniques of Analog and Digital Television. ”
“The World of Satellite,” is very helpful to everyone since it discusses factors to consider in choosing, using, as well as operating satellite television sets in homes. This book also covers different advance technologies embedded in the television system like High Definition Television and Direct Broadcast Satellite. On the other hand, “The Digital Satellite TV Handbook,” offers assessments on hardware included in satellite television systems. Other relevant topics that this reference discusses are video compression techniques and equipment. Meanwhile, “Satellite TV: Techniques of Analog and Digital Television,” puts emphasis on the advantages of satellite television systems over analog television systems.
Satellite television systems are surely becoming popular in many nations today. As a word of reminder to all individuals who plan to purchase and use the systems, it is important that they first study their basic features and the functions of hardware included in the systems, before they purchase them, to avoid having problems in the future.
