MSI Wind Wi- Fi Wireless Card Upgrade / Replace
I Upgrade the Wi-Fi card in my MSI Wind rebadge, the Advent 4211. Really easy to do and pretty quick. Both the Dell 1390 and the Dell 1490 have been reported to work seamlessly with the AirPort utility built-in to OS X. But, both of the Wi-Fi cards supplied with the MSI Wind (Made by Ralink or Realtek) now have brought out Apps to make your the cards that are supplied work with OS X.
sry if this was already asked, but did u need to configure the new card in the bios??
Thnkyou. This was very useful and helped me install my Dell HP DW 1390 in my MSI wind.
@puggster
how did disable your onboard Ram ?
This was great. Thanks a lot!
Were do I find the app to run the current stock card?
i upgraded mine too as the stock one is too slow for a N wireless network
so i got an intel b/g/n Version and it loads web pages really fast and i upgraded my ram to a 2gb crosair and disabled the onboard ram so it really flys now
ive got xp and vista basic dualboot so next is to install mack osx or a linux distro most prolly mint coz i like mint alot or perhaps one of those lite versions of linux like what you get with the msi linux version idk but they are well worth upgrading
Thanks for that. I’m need to replace my wireless card so Ubuntu will run wirelessly.
Sweet, thanks for the tutorial man, I am on my way to put my new wireless card in my Wind now… I was going to pay someone, but it looks way easier than I expected. Nice
Netbooks running osx are awesome. I ahve the aspire one. I need to upgrade the card in it as I need wifi
